OISCA is one of the recipients of the Certificate of Appreciation awarded by the Department of Education for the organization`s valuable contribution and continuing support as partner to promote quality education in the Philippines. The awarding ceremony was held on February 12, 2019 at the Bulwagan ng Karunungan, DepEd Complex in Pasig City, Metro Manila, Philippines.

Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones, together with Undersecretary Tonisito Umali, handed the awards of appreciation to the Department of Education’s partners and stakeholders, including OISCA.  During her speech, Secretary Briones thanked the partners and stakeholders for helping the Department in carrying out its mandate to deliver quality, accessible, relevant, and liberating basic education. Program Coordinator Maylyn Abubo accepted the Certificate of Appreciation on behalf of OISCA.

For 56 years, OISCA has been contributing to the development of the country through Capacity Building, Rural Development, Environmental Conservation, and Children`s Forest Program (CFP). Since 1991, students of 1,175 schools were educated on the importance of environmental conservation and protection through tree planting and seminar/workshop activities. In May 3, 2018, OISCA renewed the Memorandum of Agreement among the government agencies of the Philippines, including the Department of Education.
