  3. Children Forest Program-Nature Camp Held at Langsat Primary School in Ranau, Sabah
Dec 12, 2011A three-day environmental camp was held on the 11th -13th of December at Langsat Primary School in Ranau joined by 126 students from the nine different CFP schools within Sabah, Malaysia. During the event, the participants joined in the series of activities organized by the staff of KPD/OISCA Youth Training Center in Tenom mainly for the purpose of educating, involving and raising environmental awareness among the participants. The activities include tree planting, community cleanup, showing videos and lectures that tackle environmental conservation and protection and hiking to give opportunity to participants to commune with nature.

It is for the first time that Mori no Tsumiki Hiroba was first introduced at Langsat Primary School. Tsumiki Hiroba is a game that utilizes wooden version of the colorful plastic legos that aims to promote environmental protection. Prior to the actual tsumiki game, a brief orientation was done in front of the participants regarding the source of woodblocks to emphasize the importance of forest among the participants.

The poor weather condition brought by the torrential rain did not hinder the students and teachers from participating to the activities and thus helped in achieving the objectives of the event. The representative of the participating schools expressed interest in joining again next year for another nature camp.
