OISCA to Start CFP Activities in Vietnam
In collaboration with Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) University of Education, OISCA will introduce the concept of Children’s Forest Program (CFP) in Vietnam. This is under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed in 2013 between OISCA and HCMC University of Education.
Under the signed MOU, both parties agreed that OISCA will occasionally dispatch Japanese language teachers and provide teaching materials to the Japanese language department of HCMC University of Education, while the Vietnamese university will cooperate with OISCA in carrying out exchange programs centering on environmental problems and CFP activities.
From September 28-30, Ms. Emi Takada, OISCA HQ staff visited South Vietnam to consult with high-ranking provincial and municipal government officials and conduct lectures and workshops on CFP at two elementary schools. She first visited Tran Dai Nghia Elementary School in Vinh Long City, Vinh Long Province located in the Mekong Delta area and made a presentation on CFP activities for around 90 school children, teachers and local education officials with the staff and students of HCMC University of the Education.
Ms. Takada also visited Le Ngoc Han Elementary School in Ho Chi Minh City and discussed the importance of tree planting to help address the environmental problems to the 21 students. It is expected that tree planting activities will be carried out in due time in those places.
